Fiorentina chief Cognigni a fan of Chelsea's Lampard

Fiorentina president Mario Cognigni admits he would be open to signing Frank Lampard.

The Chelsea midfielder continues to be linked with a number of clubs including LA Galaxy, Juventus and Lazio with La Viola joining the pack of interested outfits.

"Lampard is a player I have always liked and may be an example of today's marketplace," Cognigni told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"A player who has passed 30 years, his contract is expiring, and he may be the right combination between experience and cost of the deal."

But Cognigni admitted that any such move would not be orchestrated by himself.

"Market choices are not up to the chairman but to our market men Daniele Prade [sporting director] and Eduardo Macia [technical director]," he added.
