Fiorentina sports chief Pantaleo Corvino admits they tried to sign Momo Sissoko during the summer.

"In the past we were interested in Sissoko, an important player," said Corvino. "Then he renewed his contract with Liverpool for £1.7 million-a-year and that was outside our budget."
