Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella says Aussie Josh Brillante deserved his start for their defeat to AS Roma.
Montella surprised by picking Australian youngster Brillante in midfield, but substituted him with Josip Ilicic after just 35 minutes.
"I chose him because he's done a great deal, while Aquilani really struggled in training this week, which was unusual. It was a tough decision, I never expected him to play 90 minutes, but he was an extra weapon in the armoury."
