Fiorentina are making a late bid to trump Roma for Catania defender Juan Vargas.
The Peru international is a top target for Roma and has expressed admiration for coach Luciano Spalletti's team this season.
However, La Nazione says Fiorentina are also in the frame for Vargas and hope to take advantage of Roma's takeover problems to land the defender.
