Fiorentina ace Montolivo insists Italy can take heart from opening Euro win

Fiorentina midfielder Riccardo Montolivo insists Italy can take heart from their 2-1 win in Estonia.

The Azzurri were trailing at half-time in Tallinn, but fought back to win the Euro 2012 qualifier by a 2-1 scoreline.

"The important thing was to win tonight and it's what we did," said the Fiorentina star.

"We were convinced that we could get back into the game and Estonia scored with their only real opportunity of the first half.

"Cesare Prandelli was happy for us and this result on the debut. Now we must focus on Tuesday's game against the Faroe Islands.

"There are many things to improve all over the park, but we are on the right track and I think we passed the ball around pretty well in the first half too."

The 4-3-3 system is meant to introduce more quality to the side with Montolivo partnered by Daniele De Rossi and Andrea Pirlo.

"We haven't played together very much, so it's difficult to make a detailed analysis. It'll take a while to build that rapport and in the second half we were a little too frenetic at times."
