Fiorentina ace Jovetic can see Euro progress at Liverpool expense
Fiorentina ace Stevan Jovetic is confident they can earn Champions League progress at the expense of Liverpool.
The Viola won their home game against the Reds but still have to face them at Anfield.
“To be honest I thought Lyon and Liverpool were favourites and would have made it,” revealed the Montenegrin. “Looking at it now we do have a great opportunity, especially after we beat Liverpool at the Franchi.
“That game was without shadow of doubt the highlight of my career so far. Firstly, it was in the Champions League against such a prestigious side, and secondly because we won and I scored a brace.
“It was the greatest night of my life and I will always remember it. Last year wasn’t easy. I didn’t speak the language and had to study hard, but now I am happy with myself.
“I like to play with Alberto Gilardino and Adrian Mutu, they are world class players. Unfortunately we’ve only played once altogether because it’s difficult for the midfield to cover for us."
The long-maned ace also spoke of his love of the Italian game.
“Calcio is great, when I was a kid I dreamt of playing here which is why I decided to join Fiorentina. I knew they were a big club. When I first arrived I downloaded a video of Gabriel Batistuta. I didn’t know him well but those five minutes of goals I watched were amazing.
“People say I am like Roberto Baggio or Lionel Messi. But I am just Jovetic and I need to improve a lot before I become as good as them.”
