Venue: Villa Park - Aston, Birmingham Crowd: 34,725 Referee: Michael Jones Yellow cards:AV - Richard Dunne 12', James Collins 60', Marc Albrighton 62', Stiliyan Petrov 80' EV - nil
The Villains snatched an early lead from the visiting Toffees in the 9th minute when Luke Young kept his nerve to finish with a left-footed shot past Tim Howard for his second goal for the club.
The lead up play from John Carew and Ashley Young helped the defender through and he did enough to give his side the ascendency early.
Everton enjoyed much more of the play but were unable to find an equaliser and left Villa Park still seeking their first win of the season.
