Filip Djuricic believes he will only get better for Southampton as he becomes fitter.
The 23-year old Serbian winger made his first Premier League start for the Saints in Sunday's 2-0 loss to Liverpool at St Mary's Stadium.
After the defeat, Benfica loanee Djuricic admitted he was slightly dissatisfied with the result but was pleased with his own personal performance, particularly in the opening 45 minutes.
"I was really happy to start, especially against Liverpool," he told the club's official YouTube channel.
"I'm really disappointed that we lost, but that's football. I'm always giving my best and I will prepare for the next game (at West Bromwich Albion next weekend).
"First half I played without problems but second half I got a little bit tired but it's normal. I hope, game by game, I will come back into shape."
Of his initial experiences in England's top flight, Djuricic added: "This is a really tough league, every game is important. For us, every game is like a final. There's a lot of quality in other teams, but I think we didn't lose the chance today.
"We have a lot of games to play and that's important. We believe in the quality, we believe in ourselves and we believe we can win the next couple of games."
