Departing Wigan Athletic goalkeeper John Filan says Chris Hutchings is the right man to take the club forward.
He told Manchester Evening News: "Quite a few people gave me a bit of stick when I dropped down from the Premiership to play for Wigan in the old Second Division but the last five-and-a half-years have been very special and I got to places with Wigan they'd never been before and that's why it was a special time.
"What the club has achieved since has been unbelievable. If you would have said the club would have gone from the old Second Division to the Premiership and stayed there people wouldn't have believed you. I now wish Wigan all the best. Chris Hutchings who takes charge is a great bloke and he knows the game inside out."
