Fijian striker Krishna lands Wellington Phoenix deal

A-League club Wellington Phoenix have signed striker Roy Krishna to a two-year deal.

The 26-year old Fiji international joined the Phoenix from Auckland City on a short-term contract in January, as injury cover for Paul Ifill, and has now been signed to a less temporary deal by the 'Nix.

"I've always dreamed of being a professional footballer and now that dream has come true," Krishna said at training.

"There is still a lot of work for me to do but with (coach) Ernie (Merrick) to guide me I'm confident I can do a job for him."

Krishna has scored one goal in six outings for Wellington, which came in the weekend's 2-2 draw with Melbourne Heart, and he is looking for more of the same as the New Zealand outfit chases a spot in the 2013/14 A-League finals.

"If you are a striker you expect to score goals and that one has taken some of the pressure off me," Krishna added.

"The first priority though is to help the boys win the next four games and get into the finals."
