FIGC president Abete wants Roma captain Totti in Italy colours

FIGC president Giancarlo Abete wants to see Roma captain Francesco Totti in Azzurri colours for the 2010 World Cup.

The Roma captain retired from international duty after claiming injury prevented him from sustaining both the Nazionale and his club career, but has hinted in the last few weeks that he would be willing to return.

"Totti is the right age for another World Cup," agreed FIGC chief Abete in an interview with Sky Italia.

Abete also hopes to see Juventus striker Amauri as part of Italy's World Cup campaign.

"We have to wait for Amauri's wife to gain her Italian citizenship before we can proceed with his own paperwork," noted Abete.

"We hope to conclude this as soon as possible. We must take into account that with every goal Amauri scores, the more we feel the public pressure because everyone is waiting for the announcement that he is an Italian."
