FIGC chief Giancarlo Abete has joined Fiorentina in condemning the match officials for Wednesday's Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.

The Viola are fuming after the 2-1 loss to Bayern, decided by a Miroslav Klose goal that was several yards offside.

"An evident mistake was made against Fiorentina and it was even more serious because it came during a Champions League knockout game," said Abete.

"Fiorentina were clearly penalised. It's true that errors can happen, but yesterday's were just too obvious to be ignored.

"The offside was not a question of centimetres, but of metres. It seems obvious to me that the referee and his assistants were not up to the job."
