FIFA's USA World Cup inspection under way

FIFA's World Cup bid inspection of the USA got under way on Monday and will go through until Thursday. Delegates from the sport's world governing body are in the country to check out host cities and venues for either the 2018 or 2022 World Cups and Seattle Sports Commission's executive director Ralph Morton gave some insight as to what would occur this week.

"The main goal is to show unity of the United States in this bid and the 18 cities that are participating," he told the Seattle Times. "There will be representatives there from FIFA and they will be looking at a handful of the potential host cities, but this is really an opportunity for us to come together and show them as a whole what the bid really is.

"They'll be in the United States from September 6 to September 9. They will go to the Meadowlands, FedEx Field, Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Cowboys Stadium in Dallas and Reliant Stadium in Houston. They'll also take a look at Red Bull Arena, the new soccer facility in New York. They were just going to get a snapshot of a couple cities when they're here."

The decision of who will host the 2018 and 2022 World Cups will be made on December 2 this year.
