FIFA Match Agent confirms contracts signed for Beckham tour down under

David Beckham will play in the down under tour despite certain media suggesting otherwise. Contrary to speculation that dates for the LA Galaxy tour to New Zealand and Australia are unconfirmed, the match agent that put the tour together today confirmed that contracts have been signed weeks ago. Lou Sticca told tribalfootball.com, "I don't know why a media spokesperson for Galaxy would say dates for the tour to New Zealand and Australia were not confirmed. I can confirm 100% that in Auckland's case their contract with LA Galaxy was signed over one month ago and in Brisbane's case, the contract was signed a fortnight ago. In both cases the games are contracted for David Beckham to participate as he did last year. "The only scenario for postponing either or both games would be in the event David was unable to play due to injury. I have been in dialogue with David Beckham's management company in London last week when all this talk of going to AC Milan came out. "The representative from 19 Management confirmed that if David does go to AC Milan he will be on loan and that kicks in from 1 January 2009. Furthermore his representative confirmed that David is looking forward to coming back out to New Zealand and Australia. In fact I asked about the possibility of an additional game after the Brisbane game on December 11 and was told no that would not be possible as David would be off for family holidays straight after December 11". Sticca added, "Auckland Regional Council has worked very hard on this tour with ticket sales going very well and they are just about to launch their television campaign so they are very excited about the game at Mt Smart Stadium. "I know that the people at AEG Ogden (that coincidentally are owned by AEG who also own LA Galaxy) and Queensland Roar have just finished their presales to Roar members and go live to public on Thursday for ticket sales. Everyone is working hard to make this year's tour as successful and exciting as the tour to Sydney and Wellington in 2007".
