FIFA hit Japan striker Okubo with three match ban

Okubo slid into Oman goalkeeper Ali Al Habsi during his country's 1-1 draw in Muscat earlier this month, then kicked out at the Bolton Wanderers player while both men were on the ground, earning the volatile Japan forward a straight red.

Soccer's world governing body FIFA also fined the Japan Football Association £2,500 for the offence, Japanese officials said on Thursday.

"I'm disappointed but I am the one who is most to blame," said Okubo, whose involvement in the final round of qualifiers is now in doubt. "All I can do is learn from it and move on."
