FIFA 'hand' Henry a reprieve

France star Thierry Henry will not be punished for his handball in November's World Cup qualification play-off against the Republic of Ireland.

FIFA concluded there was "no legal foundation" for them to deal with the case.

The decision means Henry will not face a ban for any matches of this summer's World Cup finals.

FIFA said in a statement: "The disciplinary committee reached the conclusion that there was no legal foundation for the committee to consider the case because handling the ball cannot be regarded as a serious infringement as stipulated in article 77a) of the FIFA disciplinary code.

"There is no other legal text that would allow the committee to impose sanctions for any incidents missed by match officials."

This isn't a case, even if it has to be,it shouldn't be against Henry but the match officials, its there work to penalise, even though we have to consider that they are mere mortals.THIS reminds of Maradona's hand of God!.

If there is a card for diving in the penalty area so it has to be for handle ball scenarios. Its like if it would have been Brazil against France and this would have happened the World CUP finals then what would be FIFA ruling. It means different teams have different rules and why in the first place FIFA is organizing any qualifiers. They can just ask the teams to play who make marketing section more lucrative to FIFA. And the ruling simply states NO FAIR PLAY
