Feyenoord fight for Premiership target Drenthe

Feyenoord are determined not to sell Premier League target Royston Drenthe over the summer.

Aston Villa have been strongly linked with a bid for Drenthe, while Sunderland and West Ham United have also been credited with an interest.

But Feyenoord's interim director Peter Vogelzang insists the club are under no pressure to cash in on Drenthe.

"It is correct that Royston has received a lot of attention," said Vogelzang at a press conference to present new coach Bert van Marwijk.

"But Feyenoord want to keep him for sporting reasons. He is the type of player that the club needs.

"There are no financial reasons now why we must sell him."
