Feyenoord chief Martin van Geel admits he tried to bring Manchester City striker John Guidetti back to the club this month.
Van Geel dined with the Swede two weeks ago before his loan switch to Stoke City.
"John preferred to stay in the Premier League," recalled Van Geel.
"So this was the best option for him. And in doing this, it mattered to him - he wants to play regularly again and as a striker."
