Ferrara: Juventus were poor

Juventus coach Ciro Ferrara admits they were "poor" after their 2-0 defeat to Bordeaux last night.

Fernando and Marouane Chamakh struck for Bordeaux in the second-half to secure the three points for the hosts.

"Paradoxically we conceded the goal when we were playing better and closing down the spaces. We struggled a great deal on set plays and both goals came from dead ball situations," Ferrara said.

"We had said we'd try to avoid giving away free kicks near the box, but instead did that a lot. Over the course of the game Bordeaux were superior.

"When you are marking someone, you need to stick to them. If you don't get the ball, then make sure your opponent doesn't either.

"On the first goal the marking was absent, while on the second Martin [Caceres] was slightly behind the man he was marking. All we can focus on here is the utmost concentration."

Alessandro del Piero made his first start for the season, but had little impact.

"The team struggled and therefore Del Piero was also caught up in the Bordeaux push forward. Naturally I am not satisfied with the performance of the squad, not singling out any individuals," added Ferrara.
