Fernando is looking to make an impact at Manchester City during the upcoming season following a difficult debut campaign.
The Brazilian midfielder arrived at City from FC Porto at the start of last season and although he did show glimpses of his undoubted talent, Fernando was never really able to put in a consistent run of performances throughout the course of the campaign.
The 27-year-old has now stated that his poor season was down to niggling injuries but has vowed to return to his best during the upcoming season upon returning to full fitness.
"It was a very difficult year but I'm very optimistic about the start of the new season and I want to get going as quickly as possible," said Fernando on the club's pre-season tour of Vietnam.
"For me the thing about last season was that I played a lot of the games with pain. That limited my capabilities. Now I feel 100 per cent fit and I'm just looking forward to getting going again. The problem I had last year was the groin. Every time I ran it was painful."
