Fernandinho's hopes of a move to Manchester City appear to be on the brink of collapse.

The Daily Star says Fernandinho has a £50m buy-out clause in his contract and Shakhtar Donetsk are set to play hardball with the Blues.

The attacking midfield star is desperate to come to the Premier League but Shakhtar want to keep him.

A source said: "He wants to go to England but will not force his club's hand.

"If Manchester City meet the clause then a deal can be done, so it is down to them now."
