Manuel Fernandes admits he was taken aback by the speed of his shock £12 million move to Valencia.
The former Benfica midfielder was training with Everton until getting the call to fly to Spain for a medical on the weekend.
"I could not hope for things to have gone any quicker," said Fernandes. "I am very happy to be here.
Fernandes had to undergo a two-hour medical and added: "I am completely over all my injury problems.
"I am very combative and not a scorer of many goals. I do not like to be individualistic and yes I play for the team. I see myself more like Ruben Baraja than David Albelda, because I can do containing work, but I like to go on the attack."
Valencia president Juan Soler also said: "He was a player recommended by the football staff. He is already an international and has experience playing in England. We were able to outbid other clubs to sign the player."
