Sir Alex Ferguson admits he's unhappy with the lack of goals coming from Manchester United's midfield this season.

Owen Hargreaves and Anderson have yet to score their first United goal, Michael Carrick has still to get off the mark this season, while Ryan Giggs has three and Paul Scholes only one.

Fergie said: "We're very hopeful about the squad as it is now. There's a good ability and team spirit, a strong work ethic, experience, youth, and we've also got match-winners.

"Ronaldo, Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez have all scored important goals this season, and we just need the midfield to contribute goals consistently. The signs, both short and long-term, are very good."
