Ferguson tipped to keep Man Utd chase in-check

Manchester United legend Andy Cole says manager Sir Alex Ferguson won't let anyone at Old Trafford get carried away with their Quintuple bid.

Cole said: "The other day when people were getting carried away and saying they were going to win five trophies, Sir Alex came out straightaway and put that to bed and said: 'Look, I'm not getting excited about it.'

"That's why he's unique. The Carling Cup win over Spurs has gone.

"When we won the Treble back then we didn't actually believe we could do it until we'd won the League and the FA Cup and our last game was the Champions League Final against Bayern Munich in Barcelona. That's the only time we thought we could win it.

"Before that the thought process was 'a game at a time'. Nobody got ahead of themselves. We had a squad of excellent professionals and we all had good attitudes as well because we knew what we wanted to achieve. You could only do that by taking it a game at a time.

"Everything is magnified now. Since Manchester United won it every season 11- 8- has been the same thing: 'Can such and such a team do it again?'

"You see teams getting themselves into good positions, like United last season or even Chelsea the season before. But they soon find out that it's not easy."
