Ferguson thrilled to see Man Utd produce fightback against Everton

Sir Alex Ferguson admits that Manchester United were outplayed by Everton in the early stages of today's meeting at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils overcame a tardy beginning to move 12 points clear on top of the table with a 2-0 victory thanks to first-half goals from Ryan Giggs and Robin van Persie and Ferguson was thankful his players were able to fight back following the slow start.

"I thought for 20 minutes Everton dominated. They had possession and a couple of chances and were a threat from them with good delivery from (Leighton) Baines," Ferguson told Sky Sports.

"We saw that through and in the second half played much better without scoring the goals.

"They must remember bad experiences and that was one last year. In the last 15 minutes they showed a steely determination to make sure nothing happened."
