Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has told Fabio Capello to forget about Wayne Rooney for England until he makes his return for the Reds, reports the Manchester Evening News. Ferguson let the England coach know in no uncertain terms that his star striker will not be available for Wednesday's friendly with France.
Capello is facing a striker crisis with Darren Bent and Jermain Defoe both ruled out for the final international of the year and hinted that he could turn to Rooney.
But Ferguson, who has meticulously plotted the 25-year-old's recovery from ankle injury, does not want anything to get in the way of his recuperation.
"He can only be available if he's fit and he's not fit," said Ferguson, who allowed Rooney to face Montenegro last month in the hope that it would see him get over the niggling ankle injury that has troubled him all season.
And it was while on international duty that Rooney publicly defied his manager - claiming he was not injured - leading to the row that almost saw him quit Old Trafford.
