Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is serious about signing Southampton teen Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The Daily Star says the highly-rated 17-year-old is also being chased by rivals Arsenal.
And if he sees enough of the winger when Manchester United tackle Saints today, Ferguson is ready to follow up with a formal bid.
The United boss was upset to learn earlier in the week that Chamberlain's dad, former England star Mark, believed his son would get the best possible chance to develop as a player at Arsenal.
And Chamberlain Snr has been told instead that would be an ideal home for the teenager.
And the Old Trafford club are ready to make a late bid to seal a deal with Saints before the transfer window closes on Monday.
