Barry Ferguson says Birmingham City have helped him regain his enthusiasm for football after last season's controversy at Rangers.
The midfielder said: "The last few months of last season didn't really help my playing career.
"But now I'm enjoying myself and it's a new beginning for me.
"The day I signed for Birmingham was the best thing that happened to me.
"I think a few people were worried about how I would do in the Premier League but I played well in the Manchester United game and again against Portsmouth and Stoke.
"Stoke were a difficult team to play against with their route-one football which made it seem like being back in the Scottish Premier. I got a few bangs on the head, which is why I said it was like being back up in Scotland."
