Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has likened Robin van Persie to Eric Cantona. Ferguson says the pair have a similar approach to the game.
"Eric Cantona, we saw him at Leeds and very soon he became a legend here. Robin is in his first season here and I hope that will have the same impact as Cantona," said Ferguson.
"Eric, when he came through the door, in an instant he became stronger, prouder, more brilliant. His approach became more majestic, his head more upright. It became obvious to the players: Pass him the ball. With Van Persie, it took them a few weeks to really understand what type of footballer he was. Now they know. If we win titles this season, we can say that Robin has lifted Manchester United a little higher, just as Cantona did in his time."
