Ferguson pleased with Cathcart's Man Utd debut

Northern Ireland youngster Craig Cathcart made his Manchester United debut in Wednesday's 2-1 friendly win over Boca Juniors in Munich. "It was a very good night for him," said United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Cathcart partnered England international Wes Brown at centre-back in the Audi Cup tournament game.

Having been capped by Northern Ireland at under-21 level, he was also voted their youth player of the year in 2005.

He was made captain of the United youth team in 2007 and skippered the side that reached the FA Youth Cup final, although he missed both legs of the final.
