It has been reported that Sir Alex Ferguson played a role in helping Manchester United to make their decision to sack David Moyes on Tuesday.
The Scot was dismissed from his role at Old Trafford in the wake of the 2-0 loss to his former club Everton on Saturday which was another poor performance in a very mediocre debut season in charge of the Red Devils.
Sources have told ESPN.co.uk that Ferguson 'played a part in the discussions which resulted in the removal of Moyes, although he did not take the final decision to terminate the 50-year-old's six-year contract'.
Sources also revealed to ESPN that the club was becoming more and more worried about the fact a large number of players in the squad did not want to perform for Moyes.
United won the Premier League title under Ferguson last season, prior to his retirement, but have fallen to seventh position this term after experiencing 11 losses in their 34 matches so far.
It is believed that Holland manager Louis van Gaal is at the top of United's hitlist while the likes of Pep Guardiola, Juergen Klopp, Carlo Ancelotti, Diego Simeone and Laurent Blanc have all been mentioned but are currently under contract at their current clubs.
