Wayne Rooney is set to make his Manchester United return next week against Wigan Athletic.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been impressed by reports of the striker's attitude to a training week in the 'States.
Rooney flies back from America today but Ferguson does not want him to go on England duty and Fabio Capello is unlikely to pick him in any case as Rooney has not started a game since September 26.
But Fergie is ready to start him next Saturday at home to Wigan. The United boss sent Rooney to Dubai and then America in the wake of the player's contract controversy when he questioned the ambition of the club and insisted he wanted to quit.
But this week Ferguson has heard how Rooney has given everything to getting match fit again with intensive morning and afternoon training sessions.
