Ferguson offered Ancelotti Man Utd job before Moyes

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson encouraged Carlo Ancelotti to succeed him at Old Trafford, it has been revealed.La Repubblica says Ferguson, after deciding to step down, flew to Paris to meet with Ancelotti and discuss with the PSG coach about replacing him at United.

However, the Italian turned him down as he wants to move to Real Madrid this summer to replace the Chelsea bound Jose Mourinho.

Ferguson accepted Ancelotti's position and flew back to Manchester to recommend Everton boss David Moyes as his now confirmed successor.
