Ferguson: Man Utd stars always ignored for big awards

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has taken a swipe at the judges for football's big individual awards.

Fergie feels the likes of Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, Peter Schmeichel and Eric Cantona should have grabbed the judges' attention over the years.

He said: "We won the European Cup in 1999 and at that time we must have been in the running - but two of our best players were suspended in Roy and Paul.

"In the poll that year Roy was about 17th, way down in the middle of the group. That was incredible."
