Ferguson Man Utd office won't be close to Moyes

Sir Alex Ferguson doesn't intend to tread on the toes of new Manchester United boss David Moyes.

The Mirror says Fergie retired as United manager after 26 years at the end of last season but will be back at work in his new role as an ambassador for the club in a month or so after a hip operation.

However, he deliberately won't be based at Old Trafford itself or their Carrington training ground.

Instead of walking the corridors of power, Fergie is planning to spend most of his working days at the Cheshire HQ of his businessman son, Jason.

Ferguson does not want a repeat of the last time a United managerial legend left his job, yet remained close enough to cast a big shadow over his successor.

The late great Sir Matt Busby's presence was often felt after his departure and made life difficult for Wilf McGuiness, the next manager, who Busby eventually came back to replace.
