Ferguson: Man Utd must always take risks

Sir Alex Ferguson has urged David Moyes to always throw caution to the wind if Manchester United are trailing late in a game.

Ferguson has been reflecting on United's Champions League 1999 final win over Bayern Munich.

"I've always believed that it's part of Manchester United [that] if you're down with 15 minutes to go... gamble, risk has got to be part of the club," he told UEFA.com.

"It's always worth risking. Some of the greatest moments during my time at United came in the last 15 minutes without question.

"Say you're down 1-0 there's no point in being conservative and playing your normal game, because it hasn't worked for 75 minutes.

"Shove an extra player up front. We did it and in the final against Bayern Munich we had Solskjaer, Sheringham and Cole up front.

"We could have been two or three down by that time, but the determination and persistence got us through."
