Ferguson forces Man Utd players to suffer through Rome video nasty

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has had his players sit through the video nasty of their 2009 Champions League defeat to Barcelona.

United's manager and coaching staff were concerned that the players had erased that night in Rome from their memory because it was too painful. Many have admitted they have not watched it since.

During the screening at the club's Carrington Training base Ferguson, assistant Mike Phelan and coach Rene Meulensteen pointed out that their side forgot how to play like Manchester United.

The squad were told they only did themselves justice in the first 10 minutes and completely lost their way once Barcelona had gone ahead.

Eight of the team who started that night will begin the rematch against Lionel Messi and co.

A United source told The Sun: "The manager felt the match had been lost from the players sub-conscious and he wanted them to be reminded of exactly where they went wrong so it does not happen again."
