Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is eager to upgrade Javier Hernandez's contract.
The Manchester Evening News says the Mexican sensation scored 20 goals in his first season in the Premier League, alerting Real Madrid to his talents.
But Ferguson is set to dismiss any doubts about his future by tying him down to a new long-term contract at Old Trafford.
The United manager has already secured the futures of Chris Smalling and Antonio Valencia this summer and will do likewise with Hernandez, who was signed from Chivas Guadalajara in a £7m deal last year.
He still has four years to run on his current deal, but Ferguson is eager to reward the Mexican international for his outstanding displays last term.
