Ferguson confirms new Man Utd deal planned for Ferdinand

Manchester United WILL offer new terms to Rio Ferdinand. United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has hinted that the centre-back can enhance his prospects of another deal by rejecting any England recall.

Asked whether Ferdinand has a future at United beyond this season, Ferguson replied: "Yes. He is 34. Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes are still playing.

"If he looks after himself - and he is doing that well now, managing the situation with his back - there is no reason why he can't play on."
