Ferguson confident Man Utd set for winning run

Sir Alex Ferguson is confident his Manchester United are set for a surge of positive results after victory over West Ham.

Ferguson said: "I just knew everything would come right and now everyone can see it as we build a momentum that I believe will take some stopping.

"We are in good form at the moment, picking up all the time after a slow opening to the season, which I have to say did not surprise me. I knew there were reasons why we were not operating on full throttle.

"After what we experienced last season, going flat out to win two trophies, there was inevitably exhaustion with most players carrying knocks and needing repair jobs."

The result was a start to this season which saw United draw against Newcastle, surrender a lead at Chelsea and lose to Liverpool.

But Ferguson has been here and seen it all before.

He said: "What I do in that kind of situation is fall back on my judgment. I also trusted the players as I knew the basics were right.

"I knew none had lost ambition and hunger, even if the early results were not what we wanted."
