Ferguson: Berbatov improved Man Utd coming on in Munich

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson saw enough of Dimitar Berbatov against Bayern Munich in midweek to suggest he will be up for a big performance today against Chelsea.

Ferguson introduced Berba in the second-half of the 2-1 defeat and was pleased with the Bulgarian's impact.

He said: "It's not easy leaving a good player like that out, but the pattern of our game away from home has suited us. I brought Dimitar on against Bayern Munich because we needed to change the pattern of the game, because we just couldn't keep possession of the ball, we just couldn't keep it in the way we normally do, it was ridiculous.

"And Dimitar actually did improve the situation a bit, in terms of getting on the ball and making something happen around about the last third of the field, which we hadn't been doing enough of. It's not easy to leave a good player like that out. But now he'll be in and we just have to decide what is the best way of playing with him, in terms of our formation."
