Manchester United goalkeeper coach Eric Steele was in Germany on the weekend. PA Sport says Steele attended Schalke's clash with Bayer Leverkusen.
He was running his eye over Schalke No1 Manuel Neuer, who is a favourite of Steele's.
Neuer is known to be unhappy with life at Schalke, who have slumped into mid-table this season despite reaching the Champions League quarter-finals.
