Fergie backing Tottenham to break the big-four monopoly this season.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes Tottenham have the edge on Manchester City and Aston Villa for a Champions League place.
The United boss told the Daily Star: "Looking at the teams who are going for that No.4 spot, I believe Spurs have a great chance.
"What they don’t have at the moment is that consistency a team has when they know they are going to be challenging for leagues.
"But you see sudden bursts of form – like the 9-1 win against Wigan, which was amazing.
"Harry’s experience is important. He has his centre of midfield settled with Tom Huddlestone and Wilson Palacios.
"But the area he is probably most concerned about is the centre of the defence because of the injuries with Ledley King, Jonathan Woodgate and Michael Dawson."

the reason this has come out IS because we play utd next. the press would have asked fergie what he thought of our season so far and if we can break top 4, they ask him every time we play them. i respect fergies comments as he knows what he's talking bout, but then you do have to take in to account that he is good friends with 'arry and when redknapp was asked a similer question about utd,didn't hesitate to answer that the season wasn't over and it's between chelsea and utd. if club or managers dislike one another then this is the time they get their handbags out blast each others credentials but as u can see this is not one of those times

So that´s the kiss of death then. The moment someone like Fergie makes such a prediction it is bound to come to nothing. And is it just a coincidence that he next match Fergie has is in the Carling Cup against us. Talking up the opposition is one way to get his own team motivated.
