QPR's director of football Les Ferdinand believes the club would be better served if they are actually ready for the Premier League.
The R's went crashing down to the Championship for the second time in three years last weekend after suffering a heavy 6-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City.
With a possible sanction hanging over their heads for breaching Financial Fair Play regulations to the tune of £58million, QPR are in an unenviable position right now which Ferdinand hopes is solved once they fight their way back to England's top flight.
"We need to make sure the next time we come back into the Premier League, we are strong and ready for it. We need a plan. A house can't be built on sand," he told the Evening Standard.
"The owners have thrown a lot of money at this club and are taking a lot of stick over what they've done and how they've done it. I think they're realising they have done it wrong.
"This club attracted players for the wrong reasons and we have done for a number of years, but the owners have simply backed the managers."
