Ferdinand: Time for Man Utd to deliver trophies

Rio Ferdinand admits it would be devastating if Manchester United finished the season with nothing to show for their excellent form.

The England centre-back said: "I feel we've put so much into this season that to throw it all away now with bad performances and results would be criminal.

"The rewards are there to be taken. Now is the time to deliver. We've done a lot of work on the training pitch and the manager has worked tirelessly to bring in the right players.

"So we're in a position to strike. We want to do well this term and achieve great things.

"We're on the brink of something very good at this club. I've been here through a transitional period and I can see the fruits beginning to ripen.

"We can't say we're definitely going to win this competition or that one but there's a definite feeling in the camp.

"We have a strong bond and a great bunch of players ready to achieve something big."

Ferdinand is absolutely determined to land an FA Cup winner's medal this term.

He was a runner-up in both 2005 and 2007 and banned when United beat Millwall in Cardiff four years ago. Ferdinand added: "I grew up watching the FA cup on TV and it's a truly special competition.

"I want to be part of that history and be able to say I've won it.

"The 2005 and 2007 finals are still open wounds. How we lost I'll never know, especially against Arsenal in 2005.

"That was a bitter experience. We battered them for 120 minutes."

"When the luck is with you, results go your way. Hopefully, this year we will be the ones that manage to get that extra bit of good fortune."
