Ferdinand targets Man Utd captaincy

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand admits he wants to succeed Gary Neville as the club's long-term captain.

Ferdinand told the Sunday Mirror: "There's been a long line of illustrious players who have captained this club and to say you have walked out on numerous occasions as captain of Manchester United is something very special.

"As a kid you dream of playing for the best club in the land - and I'm doing that at the moment."
