Rio Ferdinand is close to telling Roy Hodgson he can play alongside John Terry at Euro 2012, reports the Mirror. The new England boss is set to name his 23-man squad for the tournament on May 17 and accepts he needs to discover directly from both men exactly what the situation is.
Ferdinand will not make a definitive decision until he has spoken to the Hodgson, which is expected to happen later this week, but seems to be leaning towards declaring his willingness to be considered in the same squad as Terry.
Terry was stripped of the England captaincy pending the outcome of his July trial, at which he will deny racially abusing Ferdinand's brother Anton during a Chelsea v QPR match.
