The England players are not planning to walk off if they suffer racist abuse in their international against Spain in Seville. Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o walked off the pitch when he was subjected to the same treatment in Zaragoza during 2006.
"You don't plan stuff like that," said Ferdinand.
"It is not something we have discussed over lunch or at training.
"Samuel Eto'o walked off. That was his own reaction, his point of view.
"You have to be in that situation before you make a decision like that. You can't say, 'I'll do that if this happens'.
"If anything like that does occur, it will be dealt with after the game."
The 30-year-old continued, "I don't want to get too holed up on the idea of racism and what happened in the past.
"A lot was said after the event four years ago and we would rather not dwell on it.
"We would hope football does the talking but in today's age, it is surprising that we're talking about things like that."
