Ferdinand: Man Utd must now lift standards to match Barcelona

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand admits they must lift their standards after defeat to Barcelona.

Barcelona, who included six members of Spain's World Cup- winning side of 2010, have now won the European Cup four times and look unstoppable.

Ferdinand said: "Now they have set the standard and you have to get to that standard.

"They are a fantastic football team with great individuals, but they are a great collective team - they all know their jobs and play it well. You have to aim to get to that.

"Regardless of two years ago, we haven't done as well as we should have done.

"We had a good game plan and maybe we didn't implement it as well as we could have.

"It is just disappointing, really. We genuinely had the belief we were good enough to get a result but it did not materialise."
