Rio Ferdinand is set to pen a new one-year deal with Manchester United in the coming days.

The Mail on Sunday says Ferdinand will sign a new contract with Manchester United within the next 72 hours to give the club's new manager David Moyes an early boost as he takes over from Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferdinand, 34, has agreed a one-year deal believed to be worth around £100,000-a-week after deciding to retire from international football to concentrate on his club.
